Paul G and I fished the cold water of the Gunny today. We both landed double digits on top. winds were light, with partly cloudy skys and low water. Some craneflys and caddis on the water. Picked up our fish using the WMD and a few on caddis.

Paul got a few around a foot, the rest were between 5-10". great day on the water with my bud.

Paul,

You used Weapons of Mass Destruction against the trout? Whats a WMD?

Glad you and Paul had a nice day out!

Paul hates it when I let the cat out of the bag, but here goes!

Tie up the Orange Ant using the brightest orange dubbing you can find. I use a dubbing that is blaze orange. I also use more hackle for this than you'd use for a typical ant. 4 or 5 turns of hackle is best, rather than 2 or 3. When you fish it, be sure to keep it high and dry. I like to keep it dressed with Loon's High 'n Dry dessicant powder. I think the trout take it for a crane fly, so you want it to sit high off the water.

Hook - standard dry fly
body - flourescent orange dubbing
hackle - white or cream

I may have submitted this fly for the fly swap one year.
