Fished the Gunpowder yesterday May 22 from 2:30 until 6:30 from Bunker Hill Road upstream one mile to Masemore Road. The water levels there were much better than in south central PA. It was running about 175 cfs, which i am told is about 25-50 over optimum but still very wadeable. The water was slightly stained. It was overcast and rain was expected but never arrived. Sulphers, 16-18, were hatching all afternoon. Sporadic rises in the pools which I targeted with limited success. The nympher/buggerer in the group had much success on hare's ears, cadis pupas and pheasant tails. Most of the fish were small 8-10inch browns. This was my first trip there. I'll be back. The guys at Backwater Angler in Hereford were very helpful.
