Gunpowder river, Baltimore county 5/15/17

Fished the gp today from 230-7 above Falls road. Sulphers were popping off the entire time. The browns were eager to take on the surface, the takes were very aggressive and commited. I find that as the hatch continues they get a little more cautious. All browns, mostly between 8-11 inches.The water temps were in the high 50s, air high 70s. The flow was 90 cfs and falling. I only saw one other fisherman and that was as I was leaving. I thought about sticking around to see if there was a spinner fall(pretty sure there was) but I was worn out from a long day working and fishing. The dry fly season is pretty great just wish the western md rivers weren't blown out for weeks. Looks like I might have to invade the State College area this weekend. 🙂 I'm sure there aren't enough people on the water up there already.

Conditions are indeed looking good and one more FFer won't matter anyway - heck, yuh might as well join us. 🙂

I don't think Ryan will fare very well trying to fool and land the smart, hard-fighting Central PA trout since he's used to fishing for the more naive, easily caught and dainty fish found in Maryland.

I'm sure Brooks, I mean Ryan, can handle those PA Trouts. He catches some nice ones.

I'm just happy the Pens were able to free up his schedule for him this week so he can fish. ;-)

Damn pens!! and the wizards lose game 7 too! I forgot this is the Jam week, would be great to meet some more members. Probably just a day(long) trip for me but I might try to negotiate with the wife to drive up Saturday night after the kids are in bed. I will be sure to wear my nationals hat, it's my only team left.

Look! If you think that being in Central PA on May 19-21 weekend with a fly rod won't be a thrill, then I guess stay home. But, if you want to also mix in a little worthwhile social interaction then we will be occupying the pavilion each night en masse from 10 pm to midnight, after which, many will be sawing logs. The pavilion would be available for chatting and staging and meeting up with others to head out to the stream all other times.

After midnight quieting down the sound of our revelry is appreciated, though not necessarily mandated.

Not a question of wanting to go, just tricky to do overnight trips with two young kids at home.

Nothing worse for me then when I leave and I call the next day or something and my wife is in a mood bc my little one is being difficult. Makes you feel guilty for leaving and you know your driving home to the perfect storm.
