Arrived at Masemore parking lot at 9am to see the water boiling once again. Water flow was very low compared to last weekend, however, the Gunpowder browns were fooled once again by the simplistic three wrap bi-visiable. Flies were presented down and across in tandem rig on 7x tippit. Just a beautiful day to be on the water with the misty fog and cool air from the river! Fished until the trico hatch faded around noon and went up to the damn and nymphed midges. Caught many rainbows with parr markings and I'm curious if the state decided not to clip the fins agian. Four in total that could be wild or could be stock fingerlings....dunno. But, a fun time for the morning/ afternoon.
Drove home and decided that wasn't enough so I made for Little Orleans on the Potomac River. Arrived at 5PM and it was packed! Tied on a simple bugger on a # 4 hook, bunny strip tail, green chennille body, lead wrapped shank, with a large tungsten bullet head weight. Went out from the landing and proceeded to immediately catch smallies in the 6-10 inch range. Largest was 15inches. I caught A LOT....I didn't count and if I did I would have lost count. That stretch of river has made a major come back!!! I saw THOUSANDS of smallie fry from this year! I'm so thankful that the rivers haven't been blown out over the last couple of springs and furthermore that the intersex problem isn't going to erradicate my favorite river...WHEW!!! Hopefully, the Susky will make a comeback too...
