Water temp around 45 degrees. Low and clear water. Air temp in the 50's when I began at 9 am and warmed up later. Not the greatest dry fly fisherman I found a pod of rising fish in a small area. Got a handful of Browns on a #22 Griffiths Gnat. That was great fun.

Thanks for the report. I keep waiting for the releases from Prettyboy Reservoir to be increased, but who knows when that will happen.

They bumped it this morning, 70 cfs is a much better flow. I took my 12 year old son up for a couple hours, he landed 4 browns and 2 bows, lost a couple more at the net. He was very excited.

Doesn't look like they bumped it up; the increase looks like overflow. Back down to 47 cfs now.

They had previously stated that they had no intention of raising flows until Loch Raven needed the water, and I seriously doubt that it needs it after the rain we've had.

At the moment, that's a good thing. The fuller Prettyboy is during the winter, the more cold water will be available next summer.

As you know, they've been very frugal with releases for a while.

We did a family hike this afternoon along the Gunpowder from Falls Rd almost up to the dam. No fishing for me, but we stopped to talk with several anglers. Everyone seemed to be nymphing with varied degrees of success. The flows have increased this week since the rain a few days ago but the temps are holding in the mid-50s. Personally I have never had much luck in the plunge pool area, despite it always looking like great water to hold some nice fish.

Regardless, that area is very beautiful this time of year.

If that was recently right after the high water event it probably came over the dam but possible it swam up. I've caught a crappie and a bass within a hundred yards of prettyboy, normally soon after spillover.

This was a few years ago and I think after a really rainy week. It probably fell over the dam, would it even be possible for it to swim all the way from the loch? I’d imagine the water would get too cold.

Most likely came through or over the dam at the upper end. FYI DNR has found snakeheads in the GP now that swim up from Loch Raven. I've also seen some beast snakeheads below loch raven. Going to be interesting to see how they interact with wild browns

I catch the occasional bluegill after spillovers, and I've seen carp.
