Ventured out to the Gunpowder in hopes of an early season Black Fly hatch. Unfortunately, the river is still too cold, but it has excellent flows. Saw a couple of midges coming off and no signs of stoneflies. Usually, I see a lot of fish on the banks this time of year, but not during this trip. I managed to sight fish and pick off a couple on a 24midge pupa. The fish would not budge an inch off their feeding lanes. Oh well, two more weeks and the water will be boiling with rising fish!
