Green Spring Creek Oct.11th FFO section

I have always wanted to try this stream since reading Charle Mecks book. The fever had gotten even more hot when i started to fall in love with limestone spring creeks....but just never made it out to this one. My buddy and i decided that the time had come and we were going to fish it. We arrived at the stream just as day was breaking. we got there early and i expected to be rewarded. All i can say is WOW!!!! this stream looks like a mess. the water was very discolored.....i wondered if it had been from rains the night b4 or if it always looked like this. Later this day we went to big spring where i ran into another flyfisherman who had just been to green spring. he told me the stream always looks like that becuase of a farmer upstream in the headwaters who wont stop his cows from walking in the stream. he told me it used to look like this , and pointed into the cold crystal clear flows of big spring. what a shame :-( but he did mention it look especially bad today.
anyways we fished and landed about 7 trout at the first bridge crossing. we fished a good ways downstream and didnt catch a thing. we did however have a few takes but no hook-ups. sparadoic rain was falling and it was very overcast.
we went down to the next bridge crossing and landed about 10 more trout. everything was on bh white woolly buggers. the stream was so cloudy i wondered how they would see anything else. that fisherman i talked to ...he told me he nailed them down there using nymphs.....i said he caught about dozen. (and i believe him). his and his buddies had fished falling spring, green spring, big spring and letort all in one day! :-D spending about 1 1/2 hours at each stream. anyone who can fish such frustrating streams, in such a short span of time, and still land trout..........ill believe any day ! :-D

i dunno people. i say all and all it is an OK stream. i dont think ill be returning to this stream, just to fish this stream. i might use it as a side trip stream if fishing big spring or another stream. i was kinda disappointed ....especially when i expected a crystal clear, heavy on aquatic veg, and chalked full of trout stream. this stream needs some tender loving care and it also needs that amish farmer to stop destroying it....... :-(

Right now they are all pretty ugly until we get some rain...

When a bomb is released from a plane in flight, it has a certain "east-west" velocity. This is why you must release early to hit a target, since the bomb will not only "fall," but also will travel in the direction the plane was going when it dropped it. If you wait until you are over the target to releae, you will overshoot dramatically. As Tom says, accuracy in bombing requires practice.

ya i got the whole east and west thing...but what confused me is the bird must have done a u turn and bombed it again ! :-D

well i suppose thats a possiblity also. i just found it odd thats all. :-D what are the chances i mean lol
i was kinda hopin some regulars that fish green spring could help shed some light on the condition of the stream......it could be a really great stream, but from what i see it needs some TLC. anyone here fish green spring often? i really love limestone spring creeks and find this streams current situation a complete shame. :-x :-(
