I ran into Charlie stream side some years ago. Great guy. He was morning the loss of his wife. Most of Central Pennsylvania was blown out from rain. He was able to direct us to a couple of clear running streams. He was delighted to sample some of my wife’s chocolate chip cookies.

Greg knew his stuff. First ran into him in the mid 1970s when he was doing some research on Green Drakes on the Kettle Creek.
A good entomologist and flyfisherman. He definitely would have been a good teacher in the PSU flyfishing phys ed program.
Was especially good helping the PSU agricultural needs as well.
Unfortunately, aquatic entomology had been dropped from PSU about 1979?
And ... well miss him being around.
The book has good info.

I met Greg Hoover at local township meeting sponsored by Penn State about the Spotted Lanternfly. As I live in ground zero +1, this meeting was VERY early during the infestation.

No reflection on Greg, but this was when we were talking about 4 townships and the experts thought containment was possible... 🙄

Uh oh!
Lots of animals and fish eating them now according to grapevine. Oh, that's where they are too!
But, that is surprising.
However, so many invasives are coming in these days it's hard to tell, I suppose.
But Greg was probably repeating info from other sources.

Trust me, it was impossible unless this happened in 1634...

At the time, I had a car parked outside which I wasn't supposed to take out the the first 4 quarantined townships (District, Hereford, Longswamp, Rockland) in Berks County.

Obviously that wasn't practical or possible for the 8000 or so residents of those townships or vehicles traveling from areas NOT effected INTO the four townships...

So it was only a matter of time...
