When they list shank measurements, are they the overall length or just the straight shaft minus the loops?

Straight shaft-from in back of the eye loop to the part of the hook that starts to bend spent almost 10 years in Delmont in the 70s-mide 80s-loved it there/had to move when the mills went down, lucky enough to do so on a corporate transfer

Or spend ridiculous money on the “name brand” product 🙄 - I use old unwound guitar strings (I have a bunch) in about a .17 gauge and use jewelers pliers to shape them as needed - labor intensive but super low cost

i've been trying them on tubes, running trailing hook wire through the tubes. tail on a size 1, head on a size 1/0. Have not fished them yet but they look good - I'd eat one if I was a fish. Will try them out in SW Florida this winter.
