Decided to try french creek out as i haven't fished it since early 2009. Im not too familiar with this creek in terms of boundaries and the good fishing holes. So i started out where i knew the stream from previous times. Right at the 4 way intersection at the guard rail pull off.

I got dressed and hobbled down to the stream, crossing to the other side. Tied on my tandem rig of a caddis pupa and hare ear. First cast through the riffles and fish on. It was a rainbow, decent size too. Fished those riffles for another 10 minutes picking up fish here and there including Horny Heads! Then moved down stream to fish the deep tree hole, rolled probably 5 fish and gave up.

Knowing there was a red bridge downstream i walked down there. Ive never fished this section before, only the section mentioned above. Upon arriving, two guys were fishing the right side throwing bait. And there was one fly fisherman on the left.

I hobbled down the left side where i found a mixed array of currents. It seemed like a tricky spot, but very deep, and very fish worthy. I fished these different sections of currents picking up a few fish and missing tons more. I feel like theres tons of fish in that stretch of water there.

After the one bait guy left i swayed myself over to his side. And we struck up a convo. He just moved into the area and it was his first time trout fishing. After giving him tips and such he hooked into a fish but lost it at his feet. He pointed out how he and the other guy was trying to catch the big gold fish. And i attributed to how theyre hard to fool because how irritated they get from getting stuff chucked at them by everyone. After he ventured upstream a little bit i gave my shot at the fish. Upon a few serveral drifts and fly changeups, he finally inhaled the insect and we a fish on. After a few shots taken, back he went and that was the end of the day.

Good report Mute. Don't forget about going upstream from where you started. There's lots of places downstream as well from where you were at. PM if you need tips as I fish that creek most regularly before everyone takes all the fish out since it's very close by for me.
