Bugs: #12 March Brown, #16 Sulphurs, #16 Grey Fox
Water Clarity: stained
Water Depth: 2-6 feet
Water finally reduced down enough to be safely fishable. Surprisingly good hatches happening, with intermittent March Browns and Sulphurs coming off the surface in the low light. Managed to find hungry, active natives and holdover fish in the faster riffles in 18" of water, and they happily ate dry Grey Foxes floated in front of their face. Many were browns with a couple smaller brooks.
Surprisingly good evening of fishing, even though the surface action was subpar once the sun wet down and a good sulphur hatch came up.
Sulphur emerger patterns weren't successful for some unknown reason, but they smashed the heck out of the only #16 grey fox dry I had in my box. I'm surprised I got an hour's worth of catch and release out of one Wulff-style dry fly before I wrapped it around a tree twig.
