This past Saturday and Sunday I took a trip to Clinton and Centre Counties and fished some of my favorite Pennsylvania waters. Spring in Central PA is about two weeks behind where I live in Maryland but the streams were in great shape and the bugs were really starting to get going (especially the Grammon Caddis hatch). This was going nicely on Fishing Creek but is was really going on Penns. Fishing Creek in the Narrows is a bit colder than Penns around Coburn.
Karen and I got a few trout on Fishing Creek just below Tylersville.

and this nice Brown Trout took the Grammon Caddis.
We fished the egg-laying Grammon Caddis (on Jonas Price's recommendation) that evening on Penns about two miles below Coburn. We got into some good Browns.
On Sunday I spent some time on Elk Creek a fantastic limestone tributary. The water was in great shape with just the right amount of color.
Working a hare's ear nymph I picked up some nice wild fish.
After spending more time on Penns with the Caddis hatch kicking in around 11 am I decided to hit a little freestone tributary for some native Brookies and wild Browns before heading home. I had not fished Cherry Run in years so using an Elk Hair Caddis easily brought the fish up on this pretty little stream
