55 degrees and raining on the drive to the creek but when Prof and I arrived stream side around 11am it was intermittent clouds for the rest of the day. We were convinced it was a wasted trip as all the streams we crossed on our way there were blown out from the rain. When we made our left hand turn on to Fishing Creek Road [if you can call that a road] we were presented with some great opaque water. Prof said "San Juan Worm" all day. Water was 48-49. I got a rainbow on the worm but then we were shut down for the next 3 hours. We tried buggers stones caddis emerger and greenie weenies all to no avail. It caused Prof to exclaim we fished every fly we usually catch fish on with zero to show. When we got to the last nice pool on our way out remembering what Prof said I tied on a Prince. Was rewarded with a big bow on my second cast who took the fly deep into the pool. Within a matter of minutes got a nice brown in some riffles. Seeing my success Prof tied on a Prince and was rewarded with 3 nice fish in a matter of 20 minutes or so. Funny how that goes. Left us wondering what would have happened if we fished the Prince "all day long"!!!
