First trout!!!

First thanks to everyone who has offered me advice and helpful tips to help me get started fly fishing for trout!

My friend and I tried out a stream that is stocked by the local TU group.
I managed to catch my first ever trout on a fly rod today. Man was i excited. I made a perfect cast into a riffle that washed under a overhanging root ball. Caught 1, lost another right at the net and missed a couple.
I have a lot to learn but what an absolute great few hours we had today.

I remember my first trout on a fly. And 8 or 9 inch stocker brown, missing a lateral fin on the Francis Branch some time in the mid 70s. Caught on a Royal Coachman wet fly.

Maybe its too late but if you can save that fly. It will be a great momento.

Still have mine. A size 12 light Cahill that has about size 8 hackle, wings, and tail. Looks like $#¡+, but i tied it and it caught a fish.
A trophy in my mind.

I actually retired it that day!.
