First Fork Sinnemahoning Cr, Potter/Cameron Co., 4/30/2010

Arrived around 300 PM. Hot and sunny. Caddis were in the air and midges all over the water. No rising fish seen until later in the evening. Water was running stained but appeared to be clearing and was a little on the high side (but I don't know normal). Water temperature was around 50! according to another fly angler I ran into. It certainly felt it could be that cold. I was in search of the Quill Gordon, but I believe I may have been too late. Didn't see any definitively, but saw a larger dark-winged mayfly on occasion that may also have been a March Brown. In the shadows, though, the wings just looked a solid dark slate. Around 630 PM I moved to a spot in the DHALO waters above the lake. The pictured pool began to reveal steady risers. They were nice healthy rainbows taking spinners. I caught a couple on a rusty of about size 14. The scenery there is amazing.

Whenever I care to explore a new stream, I always search the web for some photos. While a stream can have varied appearance from location to location, it gives one a better idea what kind of water to expect.

My thoughts exactly, that is why I rather see stream photos than fish photos!
I remember hearing names like 'Young Woman's Creek', 'Kettle Creek' and 'Sinnnemahoning Creek as a kid by my father; and I'm sure he fished them. But I never got to fish them at that time.
There is more to fishing than just fishing! Especially when you have a good camera.

i enjoy the first fork, lots of water to fish, jack keep the fisrt fork in mind come fall, say around nov, it has a great beatis hatch and usually everyone else is either fishing erie or getting ready for hunting , usually have the stream to yourself !!
