First Fork Simmahoning, Potter County,5/13,5/14

Started out Friday morning in the Delayed select harvest, new select trophy water.
The water was ideal condtions. We started out nymphing and connected immediatly. We caught several
of the new trophy fish, all rainbows. We left after catching our fill to fish other area streams. We returned on saturday to fish the middle sections and started out nymphing. Did very well until about 2:00 and then the fish just shut down. At about 4:00 , a front blew in and it poured. Wet and cold, we contiplated packing it in for the day. At about 4:30 the sun popped out and it was beautiful again. March Browns, sulfers started to show and the fish started to respond. We both rigged up double dry fly rigs with March Browns and trailed a 16 purple parachute adams about 15" apart and it was game on. We caught many browns,rainbows and a few brookies until dark. It was one of the best dry fly days I have had. Crazy May weather on Sunday in the Northern tier. Our final stop was the Oswayo on the way home. It went from bright and sunny to almost white out blizzard conditions and back again. It felt like December steelhead weather. We caught a few on streamers until the weather chased us out.

Thanks for the report. I've been considering a trip there in the next couple weeks and was wondering how the trophy area was holding up.

I was on the first fork secton on Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm as well. Caught several 18" - 20" trophy rainbows on size #20 midge dropper off sulphur dry. Hell of fight, super fun. Was upset when I caught a smaller brown. Weather was interesting with big gusts of wind and downpours. Headed to the Willows when things shut down around 2 pm. Hit Wycoff on the way back to camp to fish some small stockees. Great day on the water!

That's a fun stream, especially further up. Great scenery.
