Fished the project for a few days. Sporadic hatches of BWO #18, March Brown, and Pale Evening Duns during the day and evening. Water and weather were perfect. Air temps from 45 in the morning to about 70 during the day. Water was clear and in the upper 50's to low 60's. They had just stocked First Fork on 5/15. Water was at about 160 CFS.
Well the perfect storm set up but never really arrived. Not a lot of fishing taking from the surface and just as hard underneath. I saw a few guys have a good morning or evening but all and all our crew had a tougher time than expected. We caught fish, but not in our normal numbers. Seemed to hear the same from other people. Even went so far as to find a green weenie hatch with no luck.
Seemed to have some luck with beadheads underneath and match some of the hatches on the surfaces. March Browns look great, I just think we were early on them this year. They were not out in any force just yet. A lot of nicer size rainbows were caught.
