Soon after sunrise I began my trip up to the upper meadows of FSB, water was at its normal 53/54 degree mark, and the morning was fairly sunny. As I walked a good 10min from the car and began to put together a nymph-rig and I noticed a swarm of Tricos hovering above the water with a few risers in the run I was fishing. Not expecting a Trico hatch, I did not have any on me (for the first time).. But I did have a small Olive and Partridge Soft hackle that was pretty close size to the Tricos hatching, and after a quick hit of some floatant it rode nice in high and was able to hook into 3 nice rainbows, the largest only maybe 10inches. . By 8:30am the hatch pretty much stopped, but the 30min I was able to fish it was a blast with my little soft hackle. I wanted to stick around for the sulphur hatch but the area got a pretty nasty storm that started around 4:00pm, however on my way home I stopped at the Letort around 7:00 when the rain stopped and the sulphur hatch was better than I've seen it in a while there. Fish rising everywhere and way after dark I could here them, one riser got so close to me that i could have touched its tail, very unusual for letort brown haha.. only managed 2 but they were beauties.
