we arrived to the stream somewhere around 11:30. the air was warm but at 80 degrees the humidity was killer thank god we had a breeze. right off the parking area we started at were a few nice trout. one in the 20 inch range and 2 in the 16-17 inch range and a few other small trout. all of which ignored our offerings. until later when i threw a japanese beetle, the 20 inch grabbed it. this fish was very healthy and strong. he ran under a big pile of weeds and sal- didnt have a chance! :-D snapped me off and that was that. it still made me feel good to have a fish of that caliber in this location take a dry offering from me. a small victory :-D
we worked our way upstream a very good distance almost up to the springs. we saw tons of trout. i had another 18-20 inch brown almost take a cress bug. he kept dancing around it then running back under his pallet/rocks in the center of the stream. he was a very beat up and old fish. i put on a woolly bugger and got him to come out again after he had given up on the cress bug. he followed it right up to me....and spooked. his back was badly discolored and looked like he had been in a fight.
we then went back downstream past where we parked and went way downstream fishing. we saw tons of fish. i remember another thread were people got upset when someone mentioned how many fish and large fish were in this stream. well...the truth hurts. it does have alot of nice fish in it. most of which are very hard to catch too. :-D
we ran into another fisherman twice that day. he was a very nice man who gave his advice on what he was catching fish on. he said he had taken 5 fish( the first time we ran into him) on a cress bug. i didnt doubt that cause of the way that larger brown acted towards that offering. i told him about the 20 inch brown i had take a japense beetle and he thought that was interesting. he said he hadent even thought about using a beetle. when we ran into him again he said he got 3 on top with a beetle with a smile on his face. :-D he totaled out at 8.....but im sure he caught many more! i didnt doubt it cause of all the risers i saw that day. we talked awhile longer and he had a beer....i was still feeling drunk (from the night before........wow too many jager shots :-D ) and the beer looked good in the heat. we wished him luck and left. between the 2 of us me and spector caught 6 fish. all rainbows in the 10-12 inch range. we had our shot at numerous large wild trout, but none came to hand.....there are some very amazing fish in the heritage section ....and some even more amazing fishing! what a beautiful stream!
next we headed to the DHALO section....the water was cool and we each caught 1 fish. we did come across a pool that held alot of rising trout. we were unable to get a strike tho..we had many looks. the day was growing old and we decide to head to gods gift.
and gods gift it is! squaretail......thats insane down there! i got 1 pic of a rainbow spector caught.....tho im not sure it wasent a steelhead! :-D :-o
