I had a couple of hours to fish after work yesterday, so I made the short trip up to Falling Springs Branch. It had rained for most of the day, but when I arrived I was greated with sunshine and low and gin clear water. It was about 65 degrees and there was a little bug activity including midges and sporatic BWO.

I fished a couple different areas of water in the FFO section. The fish were extremely spooky as expected, but I managed 3 wild rainbows in the faster runs and riffles. I was using a standard tandems nymph set-up with a scud as my point fly and a pheasant tail or haresear as the dropper.

As always, Falling Springs was a pleasure and a challenge to fish. The fish are absolute gems in that stream and they force you to use good technique. I scouted for risers for about an hour before I switched to the nymphs, but I only witnessed several fingerling sized fish come to the surface. I did not bother fishing the delayed harvest section in town, but I imagine the fish would have been a little more cooperative with all the broken water in that area. Good luck to all that make it out this weekend and I cannot wait for the sulphers.
