Time fished:
0700am-1200pm
Weather:
Much hotter than the day before. Around mid to upper 80s with little cloud cover and little breeze.
Stream conditions:
Gin clear in most areas, cloudy in some from the ducks mulling around. Cold to the touch, in the mid 50s, it felt so nice, by the middle of the hot day, I wanted to lay down in it.
Hatches:
Tricos were present, but did not bring too many fish to the surface in the area that we were fishing. I find on Falling Springs that the tricos can be very localized in terms of fish responding to them, and we were not in the right place. Terrestrials (ants, beetles and Hoppers), and the ever present scud and cress bugs.
Results:
Tough morning of fishing. It was hot and despite seeing a lot of tricos, we could only find one fish rising to them. We were able to nymph up a couple wild rainbows and a beautiful wild brown on phesant tails and scuds. I took a small wild brown on a Cricket in the Greenway meadow along with a small wild bow that ate a sculpin. In all, it was a good weekend of fishing.
