Spent yesterday on Elk between the Rte 5 and conrail tubes. Yes we stayed there all day. no need to leave. Saw a lot of people there especially in the bend. Water level was good and so was the color and plenty of fish. Between the three of us we caught around 11 steelies and probably hooked at least another two dozen. Cold, cloudy and snowy. Fished from first light to about 4:30. Great day all in all.
There was another fisherman there with us for most of the day who ended up catching a bunch of fish also. I'd like to thank him for giving my buddy a handwarmer to warm his foot. He was is pretty bad shape and actually had to take his waders off because his foot would not warm even once out of the water and walking around. he found out that his noeprene stocking was twisted in his boot and was cutting of circulation. So with a new pair of dry wading socks and a hand warmer my buddy ended up being ok.
