Hit Elk Creek for a couple of days, and was pleasantly surprised on day 1 as, after flood warnings posted earlier in the week, the stream was ideal on Wed (Nov 30). Had a great day - no crowds, ideal water conditions, temps barely above freezing, and plenty of steelies.
Thursday was more challenging - and a bit disappointing from a 'catching' standpoint - as the water was perfect in the lower stretches, but it just wasn't meant to be....hooked into a few, but the camera and fish (or the operator) wouldn't cooperate. Took a fall, but in the words of Alan Greenspan it was a 'soft landing' and didn't take on any water, so will take that as a plus.
Friday the crowds returned, water was clearer than I liked, and although guys were doing better called it quits and packed things up and headed to a far east side winery to stock up for the holiday.
Most fish taken on egg patterns, although a nymph pattern turned a few fish as well. A few pics are posted below (pics taken with self-timer as my buddy still can't master the buttons with his paws). The weather is certainly in everyones favor for a bit while longer as opposed to last year, so hope to head up a few more times before ice up. Good luck to all !

Battler of the day - took me downstream for quite a ride:

All fish released and (hopefully) released unharmed.....

Nice job Maple. I got a fishin' buddy like that too. Mine usually just curls up on the backseat while I fish. Congrats.

Great report and nice pics. How did your buddy get out on that rock? I would love to take my buddy but he would be to busy socializing to stay with me and I would get very little fishing in. 🙂
