A brief report although things change so fast up there I'm not sure how useful Erie trib reports are 24 hours later. Fished all day on 12/12 upstream of Folly's. Creek low and clear. Plagued by heavy slush until lunchtime. Couldn't get a fly down through it at times. Leader icing was a problem too. Although daytime air temps were fine for fishing, overnight lows created much morning slush and ice along the edges especially with the lower flows. Didn't see many fish until we located a concentration in the afternoon. Between two of us we each caught one. Numerous foul hooks. Unless there is a warm up, don't waste your time unless you live close and can justify an afternoon of fishing. At least I didn't break my steelhead rod over my knee in disgust like JackM did.

Believe it or not, they are still very helpful. If I were headed up, I would read recent and historical reports. If those reports described low and clear conditions, I'd learn all I could about what other anglers learned during their outing. Likewise, I would read high-water reports for similar reasons.

Then when I arrive and learn what the ACTUAL conditions are, I can try some of the things I learned for just those conditions. That is the purpose of this forum.
