Time Fished: 530pm - 630pm
Weather Conditions: Cloudy, 55 degrees
Stream Conditions: 44 degrees, very high and off color
Insects: None
I just had a short time to fish this stretch but it’s real close to camp. When I quickly move through I’m able to hit 9 holes in an hour. On this night I never had a strike but the water temp was cold.
I returned on Thu May 6th and the stream had cleared up and dropped. Water temps had risen to 47 degrees and this time between 6pm and 7pm the fish were a little more receptive. I later heard some trout were stocked earlier in the week. I caught 3 brown and 2 brook on streamers. Probably had 15 strikes.
I returned once again on May 8th and the water temp had dropped to 42 degrees. Most holes were taken at 315pm so I worked 3 holes with a Streamer and had no strikes. That is about what I expected for 42 degrees. I saw another fly fisher land a trout and he was using sucker spawn under an indicator. He told me he had landed several fishing very methodically.
