Clear Day, Sunny, 57 degree air temp at 930am when I started. Water temp was 43. The cold water called for a nymph but I wanted to search quickly for fish and move through as many holes as I could. So in other words doing some scouting for future trips.
That was a bad plan since I had zero strikes between 930am and 1115am. The only winged insect I saw was a small dark Stonefly.
Later in the day the air temp approached 70 degrees so on my return trip to camp I stopped and checked the water temp at 6pm and it had climbed to 49 degrees.
The highlight of the day was the bald eagle that soared over me at treetop height seemingly without a care in the world.
