East Branch of Delaware River, New York, 5-13-12

Fished the EB with Esopusguy on Sunday. Flows in the 1300 cfs range, very clear, water temps in the 54-62 range. In the first 50 yards of the float, we were hooked up with a 17" brown. Esopusguy took a few smaller fish too before we got out of the first pool. That was followed by 3 miles of dead water and no bugs. No real steady activity but some spots held more bugs than others. I managed one decent brown in the 19"+ range that was 3-3 1/2 lb-ish. Did have another brute straighten my hook on a MB emerger. It wasn't a banner day but we seemed to miss quite a few big fish. Kramer took his first (and maybe only) float trip. Photos to follow.

We saw scattered march browns, sulphurs, caddis, tiny bwo, stone flies, ISO and one of the guys we talked to had photos of drakes from a different section of the river.

Ouch that smarts! I'm glad you had a good trip, where'd you float to-from? In the picture it looks like Kramer was just as mild mannered as could be. you should build him a seat for your 'toon. lol!

The big question is how did you Brandon back on the East? I thought he hated that branch?!

We did a long one... East Branch.to Cadosia. The relaxed dog photo was half way into the float. He wasn't so well behaved early on. He fell out twice going through the riffs. The dog pointed at every rise, even the sippers. If you were within a mile of our boat, you knew everytime we hooked up. The dog would bark and howl. It was quite funny. As usual, we picked the wrong section. Reports of smothering sulphur hatches on the mid to lower main. Oh well.
