Fished the East Branch of the White Clay ATW on Friday 5/8 from 9am-2pm. Fished from the Good Hope/Broad Run Bridge downstream apx 1/2 mile. Stream was cloudy with @ 1ft visibility which did get better by the time I left the water. There was very sporadic insect activity which comprised of a small tan caddis, I think, and midges. I don't know the insects too well yet for accurate ID. Section was recently stocked on the 6th and the water receded just enough to get them very active. I managed to land five rainbows and two browns on a size 8 brown bugger with a red/silver flash. I also managed the rainbow below on a green weenie (1st ever on weenie!) I lost @ three more with poor hook set. Ran into couple of bait and spin fiherman and all were having some luck although did not appear to be slaying them. This was the 1st time on this section and was very pleased. There are some nice holes and runs and two in particular that should hold fish well into summer due to the very low overhanging sycamore branches and undercut bank. I'd recommend a short rod under 8ft if heading to this section b/c it is going to be tight once those limbs fill in and you'll have to fish from your knees. Overall very enjoyable day and will hit this section again.
