E Br Brandywine - Dorlans Mill - Chester Co. - 10/14/10

Went early today, long before the rain & the creek is way high and muddy. Plus, near Dorlans Mill Rd, it stank. I donno if it was because someone in the area was burning something, but it lasted all day until I left @ 1:00.

Made for an unpleasant day, I still fished and caught a few fallfish in what few quiet pockets I could find. Are they draining down Marsh Creek Lake or something ?

I fished that section on Sat am and it was pretty much the same. No fish, very heavy flow and muddy. I know we got a lot of rain over the last couple of weeks but it seemed especially high.

I've been walking the Struble nightly and haven't seen a fish and fished for awhile Saturday afternoon. Water was higher than it should have been and somewhat off color. Stripped a woolly bugger through a number of areas without so much as a follow which is unusual.

I'm wondering if either it hasn't been stocked yet or if it was stocked during the flood and the fish were swept way down yonder on the Chattahoochee by now.

I found this alert on the Marsh Creek State Park site .... might explain the high muddy conditions.

Due to the Lake Habitat project commencing this fall, the lake will be lowered to "winter level" in early October this year thus impacting the launching of most boats onto the lake. Sorry for the inconvenience.
