Dyberry Creek FFO (Wayne County) 04-13-2012

Headed over to Wayne County and fished the Dyberry at about 8:30 am to about 11:30. Water temp was about 45, air temp nearly the same.

The creek is running clear and seems a little low to me, but I've only been there a couple of times, so I may be incorrect there. I walked the majority of the FFO section, taking my time. Lots of very shallow water with some holes that I thought would surely hold fish, but no luck. Would like to walk the stream again with a more experienced angler and see how they do.

Used a Copper John, size 18, a Scud in 20 a Zebra Midge in 20 and a Bead Head Pheasant Tail in 18. no luck with any of those. There was no surface action at all, saw no bugs to speak of.

Looks like the smell is back.

Do you use polarized glasses? They make all the difference in the world when it comes to seeing stream features, fish, etc.

Yest to the polarized glasses. I also made sure to get in the water as little as possible and to keep my shadow off the water as much as I could. I probably sounded like a blundering buffalo, but tried hard to be stealthy.
The only fish I did see was in the deep pool right at the bridge on Dug Road that marks the lower limit of the FFO.
I'm sure there have to be some fish in there, I just need a lot of improvement before I can fool them!
