Fished the FFO section of Dunbar Creek on Wednesday from 12-5pm. Air started at 55 F then went down to 38 F by the time I left. Caught a variety of stocked brown and rainbows, all in the 12-16" range, 7 total. Some trout were feeding on top, but all of mine were caught nymphing. Great day out before Thanksgiving.

Always good to see Dunbar producing! I have it on my list to hit during these early winter months.

For the few you saw rising, did you see what bug(s) they might have been going after? Assuming it was BWO/Midges.

You'd be correct with midges and BWOs! Though those stocked trout were pretty dumb and hitting indicators and royal wulffs so I'm not sure if exact imitation is necessary.

It's good to know that there are fish rising there, I need to catch a trout on a dry fly in December to complete the year of catching a trout on a dry fly for every month of the year. If my usual haunts don't produce I may try Dunbar creek. Thanks for the report.

Last time I was in Dunbar was over 40 years ago when my dad pastored a church in Uniontown. We were dunking worms back then, so it wasn't in the FFO zone. Nice fish for a creek in which I recall the locals "fishing" with bleach and M80s. (I'm guessing this is the Dunbar Creek in Fayette County.)

I know this is a old post but if you ever wanna fish Dunbar I can show you I know that stream I’ve walked the whole creek from headwaters to mouth I know every hole and what to use and when

Thanks ikelee, I live not far from seven springs so I tend to fish the streams in this area more often. I do fish dunbar on occasion though, thanks for the offer.
