Fished the Driftwood Branch on Saturday near the borough of Driftwood for smallmouth bass. It has a fair amount of water in it considering it is July, but the water is warming up....too warm to target trout. Between my fishing partner and I, we landed about 30 smallmouth, and several rock bass. Most of the fish were taken on popping bugs, with white being the color that did the best. A few of the fish I landed were gorged with crayfish.....so I guess I better tie a few before we make a return trip. The largest bass we caught were in the 13-14 inch range, with the balance being around 12 as well as some young fish.

We didn't see a trout, which is a huge change from 3-4 weeks ago when the slate drakes were really getting them to look up! Just the same, I hope they've found some cooler water and can manage to make it to fall.
