Fished with W.G. Miller at Donegal ffo section from 9:30-12:30. Water was 41 air temp about 45 towards the end. We fished buggers downstream from 772 for about a mile, then nymphed back upstream for a little. Got skunked and only had one fish bump my bugger, but was nice to get outside for a while and meet someone new. Water seemed a little low and was very clear. Surprised we didn't see more midge activity! W.G.Miller had to leave around 12:30. I headed south to West branch Octoraro. Fished the long pool right below the parking area at the meadows section from 2:30 till 3:30. Water temps still 41 air temps 46. Could see about 10 fish spread throughout the pool. Some seemed to be darting from side to side feeding. I ran everything in my nymph box past them but no luck. A couple fish were rising sporatically. I tried midge patterns figuring they were the culprit but still nothing! I was just about to call it a day; because I couldn't feel my toes, when a bwo landed on my jacket as if to say" Hey idiot...I'm what they're eating". Hint taken. I lengthened my leader with some 6x fluoro. and tied on a size 20 parachute bwo. First cast to rising fish and he smacked it. A 12" brown. Second fish was a 18" rainbow, but dissappointingly, he didn't fight nearly as hard as the smaller brown. Probably would have caught more but I couldn't stand the numbness in my feet any longer.
