Made a brief stop to fish the Big D. for bass while on travels Monday. I hit the section at Dingman's Ferry in the Delaware Water Gap for about an hour. You have to pay a $7 entry fee (payable via cc machine).
Anyway, river looked very fishy: slight stain and water temp of 74 degrees during the afternoon. Saw no bugs and no fish activity, although there was evidence of recent Dobson Fly (hellgrammite) activity. Saw a dead shad.
Skies were cloudy with a pretty stiff breeze from the south and probably mid 70s(?). Despite the good conditions, tried swinging streamers and sticking big nymphs under a strike indicator - couldn't buy a strike. Did see a couple bald eagles. No other fishermen although canoeists were out in force. Might have been better if I waited till evening.
Pretty river.
