Delaware River and Branches, PA/NY Border, 7/1-2 /11

Floated East Branch with Nickyboy on Friday (7/1). We spent all day on the river, covered nearly 9 miles of water and saw less than 5 rises. Flows were 2000 and temps didn't exceed 65 degrees. Just a hint of color to the water. Cloud-free skies killed the fishing. Tally for the day... 1 trout, 1 smallmouth, 2 chubs and one broken rod.

Floated West Branch and Main Stem (7/2). Some slime in the WB that made nymphing less than fun. Sulphurs, Cahills, Olives and Golden Drakes spotted. Some fish feeding. Clear water, temps in the mid 50's. I got schooled by Nick. He hooked 5-7 fish for every one I hooked. Unfortunately, we lost 90% of them before getting them to net. Tally for the day.... 5 trout (all Nick's), 1 shad and I swam across the river to catch my pontoon after the anchor came unhooked.

Basically, the fishing was crappy and I got soaked.

Wait until I take you on a float. I'll tell you it's 2 miles but it will be a 14 hr trip. Sucker.

I float mainstem one day for 11 miles and the second day for 10 miles. So I am used to long floats, they do not intimidate me. They are in a canoe though without a backrest.

I would take that anytime. Sounds like you had a nice float at a nice place with an opportunity for good fish. Still beats work.

Yeah, it beat the heck out of working. I was the awesome rod breaker guy. If any of you guys ever fish with me up there make sure you stay clear of me. Apparently I break something everytime I go up there. Not sure what this is about but I guess I am larger and clumsier than I thought.

Andy, the picture of you swimming after your pontoon will be etched into my memory for a long time. At least you werent hot for the rest of the day.

Becker if you have it in you float Stilesville to Buckingham. I did it last weekend in 11 hours.

I ain't kiddin' about that! That is a great float and very doable under the right conditions. To put it mildly we've boated more 20"+ fish on that float than any other without ever stopping...🙂

Haha...I have to chime in here (a lil late I know) for humor sake
I only floated the upper D once, and I broke my 8 wt...
It is a J. Austin Forbes and I loved it...light weight with great action...
I really miss it now...I tried emailing them a couple times but I got no response.
They still have the rod on their website for $350...I'm pretty sure I got it from some website for $100 on clearance...I'd pay $100 again to get it working again...it was great for bass and stealhead
