Mostly cloudy, mild temps, water around 60.

Once again, windstorm blowing up river putting white caps on the slower pools. Sporatic bug activity early. Lots and lots of the golden stones, some black stone AND believe it or not... ISO hatch mid day. Isn't that about 3-4 wks early? I did see one coffin fly spinner. Insect identification was hard due to the fact that they were passing you at 25-30 mph. 🙂

After 6pm there were some caddis on the water, March Browns, ISO's, Olives, Grey Fox and Sulphurs. Only a handful of fish rose before dark and none fed regularly. Fished with TimY and a guy from a different forum. There was A LOT of nymphing done between the 3 of us. From 9-9:30 am until 6 pm, we didn't move a single fish nymphing. Between wind and debris on the water, not a very fun day and once again, the D shows how fickle it can be. The past couple of trips to the D make me want to start golfing again. 🙂

Ha! Sounds about right for the D! I will be heading up this weekend, with prolly like 25% of the fly anglers in the megaopolis!

And yes, you are right about the ISOs. And on top of that, the West Branch is turning to a trickle and the Main Stem is gonna roast in time for Memorial Day Weekend. Ahh....the saga of the Upper D fishery continues...

Even w/ my #OOPS#ing about it.... I may join you in the craziness this weekend. There will be tons of kayaks, canoes etc on the water.... if it's still deep enough to float. If I go, I'll be on it at daylight / off by 11 am and then back for the evening rise. Upper WB has been killed w/ fisherman but there's less boat traffic near 17 bridge. They need some rain very soon or it's going to be a fish fry in June.
