Needed a break so I lifted my no rain moratorium, though the four in. plus rain had barley left the creek any higher. Fished from 3:30-6:30. It was sunny, windy, the stream was about half of it's median flow. Water was a brisk 56, and the dominant hatch was midges, though I saw a couple large Sulpher duns; very few risers. There has been a derby a week ago, but there were still good numbers of fish left, though they tended to be spooky. That made them at least a little more challenging, though I still stuck mostly with a Bh caddis pupa, sometimes with a wet ant trailer. Landed a goodly number of trout; mostly rainbows, but one super fat brookie that hit the ant. Biggest fish was a bit over 16'' and fat! Beautiful day, and I enjoyed getting out, though I am hoping for some more rain and bigger challenges. Sometimes you have to stay close to home and make the best of it.
