Fished from ten till two under mostly cloudy skies. Water was a bit high and somewhat cloudy; perfect for sub-surface subterfuge. There were tan caddis, midges, and several large Sulphers in the air. The area had a derby a week ago, and there were still a lot of chunky fish about. Caught four five large fish, and several smaller ones on a Z-wing caddis pupa, and then on a Sulpher nymph dropper. Removed my first trout from the area this season; a 22.25" Palamino that went 5.4 lbs. (personal best) He took a San Juan Worm on a 6X dropper! Also fouled a twenty in. bow which I moved to a safer spot. A nice time fishing close to home, and the crowd was light; most complaining about how the trout just weren't biting.

Red, my personal favorite for off color water. Also, I wasn't trying to catch the big golden fish, but was using her for a marker. The water was dirty enough that you couldn't see the normal trout. When I switched to the Sulpher nymph, the strike rate went way up, though more were missed then hooked.

i was buying hackle and dubbing,and buying my girlfriend a pedestal base for her vise.

Yes, I am that guy; I live near Media and was taking my wife and daughter to a local brunch for Mother's day. They were shopping, so I popped over to the fly shop. I managed to slip out today, though with low expectations due to high wind followed by rain. Fished the same area and missed at least six before landing a fat brook trout. Went to my favorite fast run and nailed a portly rainbow of 15"on my first drift. He took a Sulpher nymph, as well. It was nasty cold, and raining steadily so I packed it in after heaving my leader into a low hanging tree. Managed to retrieve my fly, and was happy to trade that for the beat up leader which got trashed. Did better than I hoped for, and left despite the fact that the fish were hitting fairly well; starting to develop some common sense, or else just getting old!

well ,i realise this is off topic for a stream report,but it was nice to meet you.

i tyed some of those sulphur nymphs you described.

did ok on ridley,but it was still more crowded than i expected upstream of the FFO.

Tried to fish the area where the contest was held, but it was mobbed by the time I got there after work. (4PM) Fished out of the crazy area, and caught three trout in a small run that was overhung with branches. Fished an area I hadn't ever been before and ended up with five, and missed about the same. Went from a depressing outing, to a nice time in short order. Only had about an hour and a half, but a nice break form reality.
