Had to brush out my dog when the snow got balled up in her fur. What do you think? Cream caddis or sulfur dry dubbing? I will probably float like CDC.
Who wants a bag of doodle dubbing ?Either...
In regards to Sulphurs, even though I use pale yellow synthetic today, my go-to used to be bleached racoon that came out the color of your dog. 🙂
I also tie a pure white Sulphur for fishing the hatch after dark...

Truer words were never spoken.More evidence that dogs are proof that God loves us.
That's a great idea tying sulfphurs in white dubbing for the night. I guess the color matters little to the fish?Either...

The fur on her back is actually an apricot color. I tie my sulfurs with a cream/pale orange colorThat's a great idea tying sulfurs in white dubbing for the night. I guess the color matters little to the fish?
Nah. It's actually like scented baits like Gulp! 🙂Geez, my buddy gave me a tube of dog hair from one of his dogs to use as dubbing. I thought he was kidding. I think it's a very light tan color. Should I wash it to get out the dog smell before I tie with it?

Back about 45 years or so ago I got into a hatch right at dark on the FFO section of the West Branch of the Octararo in southern Lancaster County. I only had two kinds of dry flies with me - light ones and dark ones. Many years later I realized that I hit a really good sulphur hatch at dark that night - I honestly didn’t even know what a sulphur was back then. I fished till I lost all of my light colored dry flies that night - either on fish or in the brush. I remember catching 21 trout that evening on my Shakespeare Wonderrod before I ran out of flies. Those memories just kind of stick with you, not bad for an inexperienced fly fishing punk way back in the day!My night Sulphurs are completely white; white tails, wings, dubbing & hackle. In my experience, the fish could care less...
