Many years ago(probably in the mid 70's), there were instructions on tying a yarn streamer in either Field and Stream or Outdoor Life Magazine. You tied the yarn in, separated the strands and then brushed to loosen all fibers into wooly fuzzy body.

Fly is called the Aztec - popularized by Doug Swisher in a Scientific Anglers Mastery series video. All you need is some acrylic yarn (available at any hobby store in a bunch of colors) and a fine tooth comb - weight needs to be added via wire wrap or even lead eyes as acrylic yarn takes a while to sink on its own - easy to tie and can be a zillion different color combos if you’ve got the yarn:

The one I'm remembering had full length yarn tied in at eye and looked more like a full bodied streamer with the yarn brushed out.
