For the good of the order. Summer was miserable here and I try not to bother them during the spawn, but we've got a short opportunity to get after them I guess.

Coulda swore their fins were beginning to evolve into feet with all this low water talk. Looks like at least two made it. Nice fish, both of them. Good to see some fish pics. Been a while.

Awesome brookie! Rod is cool too! Love the grip and the background of leaves and swirly waters.

That rod is actually a real winner. I rarely fish it, but I really, really enjoy fishing it when I do. It's a custom rod made by Midwest Custom Fly Rods. 7' 3WT fiberglass. I chose the colors and the grip/reel seat, and he made it for me. I paid a little bit of nothing (I don't recall exactly but think it was less than $150) and the rod is simply delightful to fish. Like I said, I have so many others (mostly bamboo and graphite), so I rarely use it, but I MIGHT use it again today if this rain lightens up a bit. You'd think that it would be ideal for little trout and small Brookie streams, but I've caught loads of bigger fish on it, and it actually has a reasonably fast action as glass rods go and a good bit of backbone when you need it.

Both are lovely trout. And yes, that looks like a nice, fun rod.

Nice pics, too. Mine never seem to come out that well. My son makes fun of my pics and often refers to them as "RRT Pics," meaning they are pretty substandard.

Man, nice way to get back into the swing of things!
Fishing should be good again for the next month or two now

Oh, I have no doubt that it will be and beyond that even. Like I mentioned before, I really try to lay off the Browns and Brookies during the spawn. Not only do they get aggressive, and I don't really find it as sporting, but more importantly, I think the risk of destroying a redd or individual eggs should absolutely be a concern. I'm not suggesting that everyone has to agree with me and fishing is legal during the spawn, so we all have to decide for ourselves I guess.

Dense spot pattern on the brown!
