cool spring, mercer co. 2/21/10

stream was in nice shape, most ice off. caught 3 in about 1/2 an hour. water is cold, gotta find my stream thermometer. a couple other guys there as well, they said they got a couple each. saw some little black stones around, along with some midges( i think) crawling around on the snow. no surface action. caught one on a hares ear, others on a worm pattern which you guys inspired me to tie up!

I really need to get on this water. I tried it last year but wasn't sure where to go and what was legal to be on. So I left in hopes of having time later and never got back. I parked by a little railroad bridge and the path went down the tracks and I'm guessing cut off to the water somewhere? I'll probably bug you later for access points.

no problem, I'll even meet ya there sometime and show you some good spots. some folks don't like it, but I do, I always seem to do good there. I guess I like that size of stream. TU does a good job keeping the trail beside the creek trimmed and such. they've done some stream bank projects, planting some trees, roping areas off that were eroding from use, that kind of thing. the sp reg area gets heavy pressure before the season, then tapers off afterward. I've had many nice evenings there being the only person fishing.

That would be great. We will definitely have to set something up when the weather breaks! I've heard nothing but good about cool springs...looking forward to it!
