All I can say is that the fishing has been phenomenal the last few nights. The first night I fished the creek, I was just screwing around with the fallfish and rock bass on dries. I tried a different part of the creek on Monday evening and encountered several trophy smallmouth and a few muskies. Monday evening, I caught five bass ranging from 10-16" including two that were 18"+. I caught the smaller bass around 8pm on a #8 BH Olive Woolybugger. Where I was, there is a lot of downed timber and deep channels out in the middle. Occasionally, I would see a bass crash or chase minnows in the shallows. The two biggest bass, I caught around 830-45pm on a #6 Muddler Minnow that I stripped across the surface. Last night, I fished the creek right after a storm blew through around 730pm. The sky still remained cloudy and the water still clear. I caught 5 rock bass-the biggest going 11". The fish was all hit but then just came in for the ride. I also hooked a few fallfish of decent size. Around 830pm, things started getting real interesting. I was fishing a deep stretch and had several large fish breaking the surface around me. On a #6 Zonker, I caught two smallies-one was 19" and the other was 20.33". I hooked and lost a musky that looked to be around 30". I only had the fish on a minute before my 3x snapped. The last few evenings, I have seen a couple of these swimming around. They actually swim with their heads out of the water or I see their fins sticking up. In one instance, I watched a fish out of casting range, swim with his head out of the water near the bank and then seconds later BOOM...the water just erupted. Last year, the Connie wasn't too great, but this year is a different story. If you want to know more, PM me for details. The water is great and there are a lot of fish to be caught.
