Conewago Creek, Adams County, 11/20/11

I fished the Conewago FFO area today from 3pm until 5:30pm. Air temp 60 with a cloud cover all afternoon. Water cold, but I didn't have a thermometer.
The water was nice and clear and the leaves were on the bottom....... no problem! A very small midge hatch about 4pm, but no fish rising on them. I didn't bother to tie on a dry as I was catching pretty good with nymphs and streamers.
I brought 11 rainbows to hand. Probably stockers, but all had breathtaking beautiful color and were healthy. All the trout were rainbows and from 11" to 13". I leave the trout in the water and don't touch them..... so no pix of fish next to my rod for size comparison!!
Last month when I stopped there last, the trout seemed to be spawning? No spawning today. No sunfish or rockbass today...... kinda strange?
I caught two on a Hears' Ear and one on a Pheasant Tail, but the other eight were taken on various color woolybuggers.
I used a 3wt Helios with floating 3wt line and a flouro leader and tippet.
Simply a wonderful day fly fishing! Those 13" bows put a nice bend in the 3wt!!

As far as why no Sunnies or Rock Bass...water temp is your culprit there. I've found that they pretty much shut off once the water temp gets below 50 or so. Usually about around the beginning of November. The same holes that produce tons of Sunfish in September and October all of a sudden seem dead. Normal for the most part...they can still be caught but it's much tougher to motivate them to move in cold water than it is trout IMO.

Yes, this section of Conewago gets too warm in the summer. The trout are fall stockies.

I sure will, Dave. I posted this last fall, and when I fixed photobucket last night, all the old pix returned to what they were before!

BTW, on my computer, a mini Mac with a 26" display, those pix only take up 1/2 of the screen? I guess the different computers are seeing different results with the same pix?

I'll keep fiddling with photobucket until the pix are perfect.

26" display....that explains it. Most people have laptops, tablets, and PC desktops with up to 17" monitors/LCDs

When u upload and link to the photobucket pics just change the "image width" to 500 or so. A click on the pic will blow it up for the readers in a new window should they so desire.
