Trying to scratch this warm water itch a little more as of late. Hit a couple of spots on the Conestoga yesterday. First spot was behind Millersville U at a popular launch site. There is a beautiful riffle just below where people put in that I wanted to try. Pounded it hard and all I had to show were two brief hook ups. Drove down to the mouth and fished from the top of the park most of the way down. Hooked four fish - landed three. All on a chartreuse and white clouser. Three landed in the 8" - 9" range. Much fun on a 6 wt. Saw a couple of decent sized bass but couldn't get them to take a drifted fly. Carp here and there. Also, dozens of what must have been fall fish throughout that stretch? These fish were schooled up and often running in pods of 6 - 8. Looked like they had forked tails.
The Conestoga is so hit and miss IMO. I was happy to find some fish at the mouth but man, that used to be easy pickins' through there.
