Conawego Creek, York County, 07/13/15

Hi All,

So i have kept a low profile for the last year and a half but I back for this season.

So after the june disaster on the Conawego I have been very concerned about the SMB population in york County where I fish a lot. So last eve i visited one of my favorite spots and Im glad to report that the York county section of the creek seems to have done quite well.

I fished from 6pm till 9pm
air temp low 80s
water was high (like most of the state) but mostly clear, could see bottom in 3 feet of water. water was warm but not as warm as I would usually find in mid-July.

I had my first fish in less then 5 minutes and brought 18-20 to hand in 3 hours, as well as lost a few and missed a few hits, but for the most part they were hitting strong.

started with an olive bugger and got 4 7-10 inch SMB but had a larger hook-up but my knot slipped.


then switched to a chartruse clouser size 4 which caught most of the remaining fish including a 16-17 inch.

last half hour was time for a popper white with chartruse tail, which landed 2 more including another in 16-17 inch class.

so a very good eve with a lot of very healthy looking fish most in 7-10 in range

Good to hear that this stream has bounced back.

Folks are often quick to write off streams as destroyed after these sorts of events and time after time the creeks bounce back pretty quickly.
