I fished near the sawmill this morning from about 7 to 11. Caught 14 wild fish including one rainbow that was the big fish of the day. Water was a little stained and fish were actively taking hares ear, bead head sparkle caddis, frenchies. I was practicing my high sticking and believe that this is one of the best streams to nymph with a tight line. I have only fished this stream a couple times and it seems as though it fishes very well in slightly off colored water. Most fish were 6-7 inch browns but a few we're 10" or slightly better and the bigger rainbow was about 15". Great morning on what is becoming my favorite stream!

Thanks for the report, gonna head out there tomorrow.

I've caught that rainbow too. Seems like an oddball amongst all those browns.

Do you remember where you caught him? It would be interesting to see how much they move in a stream that size.

I caught him in Nov just downstream from bridge at Brown Rd.

You guys do know that that bow was a stockie from the spring, likely put in the reach upstream from where the West Branch comes out of Marburg.

There are always a few big bows that move down from the stocked stretch. Until the posting I used to catch them upstream of the sawmill all the time.

Yea, I figured that but it still seems abnormal for it to be in that all wild brown section.

I wasn't aware of the stocking, as I'm very new to the stream. I caught it upstream of the sawmill in the last riffle before the very slow water. I wasn't aware of any postings but this is as far as I have fished. Can you provide more detail as to where the posted land is?

About 50 yards above where you caught it. I believe the flat deep pool is off limits The property changes hands right around there where the cornfields start.
