First a big thanks to silverfox and JGR for their shared info regarding this stream this week.

-4.23.22 Clear Shade Creek, Somerset County.
-1100 am - 530 pm
-Air temp started in the 50s end of day upper 70s.
-Water temp 48 then 52 end of day.
-Bright sunny minimal clouds.
-Water clear, good flow.
-Seen a few olives maybe size 18 and smaller.
-No risees seen or activity in general.

Entered off Rt 160 where gate is and drove up a bit where there were some parking spots. Brought the bike and headed upstream for 2 miles stopping along the way until the barely bikeable trail ended at the bend of the stream. Spooked 2 BIG trout at this 2 mile mark. This was a good distance from the FFO section. Very peaceful and quiet, nice not hearing traffic and road noise. Seen many Northern Flickers (bird).

Used nymphs -- hares ears, PT, Higa. End of day did some dry dropping and missed one off the top on a cdc olive. Seen a patch of snow in a heavily canopied hemlock section. Biking was challenging since it was muddy with ruts and a lot of runoff from the mountain or perhaps springs. Will go back to section in State Forest next trip. Great outing!
