Fished the C&R FFO water on Clear Shade Creek, fished 11:30-3:30pm. Saw maybe half dozen others guys out. Blue bird skies provided some nice warm sunshine. The air was chilly, around 40 degrees. The Laurel Highlands highest ridges still have snow stubbornly clingy on.
No bugs were observed. Water was at a good level, very clear and cold. Touched a couple stocker brookies on attractor nymphs fished with some shot.
I enjoyed my visit. This area requires a 10 minute walk to get from the parking areas to the project water. I think that lends to a little less pressure and certainly less litter, of which I saw very little. There are no houses or roads nearby which creates a quiet setting which I appreciate.
I caught my fish in pockets and not in the deepest runs/pools which surprised me a bit. There are a few tree lined hemlock stretches, riffle runs and small pools to lend some variety.
