I fished the lowest stretch of the special regs section of Clark's yesterday for about three hours. The water was a lot higher than it was about this time last year, and as usual for Clark's, clear. I don't think I saw and insect larger than about a size 24, but that's not unusual for the middle of a hot day. I chose to wet wade, and I think that was a good choice. The water seemed to be about 60, although I didn't actually take out my thermometer.

No signs of inch worms yet; the fish were not particularly hanging out under the hemlocks (well not under the lower branches at any rate -- it's hard not be under hemlocks are Clark's.)

There were rising fish in every flat section. The only problem was approaching them. If I got close enough to cover a rising fish, I usually got a take to a #16 Renegade Spent some time deliberately targeting chubs; they were actually a bit harder to fool than the trout -- I ended up with only two of those.

I left early, thinking that I'd like to fish the sulfur hatch on the Yellow Breeches. No report for there -- the t-storm hit about just as I stepped into the water.

I had temp of 65 on 27th and 64 on 28th around 11am. Today (29th) was warmer with 67 at 10am and later hit 71 just before the big rain. That is highest temp I ever got on Clarks over many years with numerous trips & temps taken. Seems temps were dropping slightly as water got lower (and mornings were cloudy) but then air got really hot and sunny,.

Water has been over the spillway for awhile so on hot sunny days the temps spike unlike the cold bottom release that usually happens in summer. Too much water is not good for temps on Clarks during hot weather and likely will be high after seeing all the rain that just fell. Luckily air temps will fall so even with the overflow I expect temps will not spike like they did recently, but need that reservoir to empty a bit to really cool the water down. Once it cools wet wading will feel different but today was almost like a warm water stream.

We may have crossed paths on 27th as I was at lower end mid-morn and early afternoon, and saw 1 other guy that was there for awhile and I assume was you, although I did see another couple very briefly as well by white barn.

Wasn't me. I didn't get there until after 1400 and didn't see a single person. Nobody even parked in either of the pull-offs in the lower end. Probably the first time 30 years that's happened.

The thunderstorms can't be doing much for the temps.
